Established in 1991, the art group in Zhongguancun Middle School has been developed into an organization of more than 300 members, composed of glee club, wind band, folk music band, dance team and Beijing opera association with individual conductor or choregraphist for each. The members all learn hard and carefully under experts ’guidance that made them highly praised and warmly welcome. In 1998, opening ceremony of the 6th Students’ Chorus Festival was celebrated at school, it was the first time that a middle school held such ceremony individually. A first awards was achieved by folk music band in the year of its establishment. Recently there are more than 60 first and second awards in all kinds of contests，special concerts were held many times. The art group now has grown to the biggest students’ organization in Beijing, communications with other countries such as Japan, America, Korea, Germany, and France are carried out continuously to absorb distillates of the international arts and introduce Chinese culture to the world. The school was honored “Beijing Traditional Art Item School”, “Beijing Golden Sail Wind Band”, in 2000 Ministry of Education awarded the school “National Advanced Collectivity of Art Education”
