Built in 1991, the glee club now has 61 formal members, practicing in spare time.
The glee club insists on full implement of education principles, concentrates on enhancement of students’ comprehensive qualities with its aim of developing multi-style, high standard performance, mainly refers to children chorus. In 14 years since its beginning, it receives warm help and guidance of the famous conductor Sang yesong from General Politics Opera, through strict practice, 80 domestic and foreign songs are learnt. It won first awards 9 times in Haidian students’ chorus contest, and in the 5th, 7th, 9th Beijing students’ chorus, first awards were obtained successively, golden medal in France Folk Festival in 2002. The glee club once held two special concerts in Beijing Music Hall successfully, and was invited to participate in many important activities, such as “congratulation for Macau returning to our motherland” and so on, getting high praise from leaders. The glee club had visited Korea, France, Germany, Belgium and Finland, communicated many times with Japanese, American chorus, broadened its view and deepened its friendship.
During the process of its growth, the glee club had been supported and helped by a lot of well-known musician, conductor and educator. The well-known conductor Deng xiaoying, Qiuli, and Nie zhongming gave a high evaluation of its performance, and they all confirmed that the glee club had strong strength and potentials.
